New Mitchell Tournament reel found in Sweden.

During my vacation I visited a collector in Sweden, Ron Elsenaar, who collects Mitchell reels.

I drove through Norway, to the Arctic circle and on my way back home, I went to Sweden to visit him.

I knew already that he was able to buy several Mitchell Tournament reels this summer from a Swedish Tournament Caster.

Amongst those reels was this special Tournament reel from France, a  "one of a kind reel".

We had a very warm welcome in Ron's house and he had a nice place for my Camper near the lake, where I could stay for a few days, with a spectaculair vieuw on the lake.

In Ron's house was a nice display cabinet with Mitchell reels, so Ron and I talked about the reels more than a day. :)

Ron showed me the latest find the Mitchell Tournament  reel with the special TWO stage spool, I could not believe my eyes, mostly when you find such reels,  tournament caster have made up spools on their reels, but this was a original factory spool,  I had never seen before.

Picture: Ron showing his reels to me, fantastic display Ron. !!!!!!!!!!!!

About the reel:

Original Made in France with the correct line guide, special handle lock, extra gear, and on the inside the special Tournament gearing.

For info over the gearing I refer to this article: .Click here.

The reel was fitted with the rare, never seen before,  Casting spool, for sure original Mitchell made in France, we do not know the history on this spool yet, but it makes this reel a "one of a kind" reel.

Here is a  picture of the actual reel:

The next picture is of the spool, two stages , one for the line and one for the "shock leader " on top.

For collectors who want to have more info about the Mitchell tournament reels I can refer to some articles on other websties.

See on Dennis Roberts website:  "First Issue Tournament Casters"

Second article: "Mitchell Wedding Cake Tournament reel"

A special : "Thank You"  for Ron Elsenaar for the hospiality and for sure I will be back to do some fishing with you on the lake.
